History

Historical Context

Cricket entered the Asian Games in 2010, Guangzhou, becoming one of 42 sports and featuring nine men’s teams in a Twenty20 format. Bangladesh won the first men’s gold while Pakistan took bronze; the women’s side saw Pakistan claim gold. The sport’s sporadic Asian Games presence—absent in 2018 but slated for 2026—now pits India’s BCCI envoy against Pakistan’s interior minister amid bilateral rivalry.
