History

Historical Context

Since the IPL’s 2008 debut, Brendon McCullum’s 158-run blast for Kolkata set a T20 benchmark, eclipsing the previous 127-run record. In 2024 Lhuandre Pretorius broke that mark with an unbeaten 188 for the Titans, highlighting a decade-long surge in scoring power that forces leagues to rethink pitch design and batting overall tactics.
