History

Historical Context

In 2022 Canada broke a 36-year World Cup drought, qualifying since its 1986 debut and sparking a 150 % surge in youth registrations. Star forward Alphonso Davies scored Canada’s inaugural World Cup goal that November and later signed a $22 million extension with Bayern Munich. The 2-0 win over Peru in Montreal continues that momentum as the nation prepares to co-host the 2026 tournament.
