An Israeli airstrike hit an apartment building in Gaza City on Oct 3 2026, killing five Palestinians, including four women.
The Israel Defense Forces described the strike as a “closing the circle” against participants in the Oct 7 massacre.
Ali al-Amoudi, a Hamas operative, was imprisoned in 2004 and released in 2011 Gilad Shalit swap.
The IDF gave no comment on whether al-Amoudi was the specific target.

History

Historical Context

Israel’s three-week 2008 Operation Cast Lead, launched on 27 December 2008, destroyed 70 % of the 4,000 struck residential buildings and left roughly 300,000 Gazans homeless. The cease-fire that followed unraveled, and on 3 October 2026 an Israeli airstrike killed five Palestinians in Gaza City, violating the fragile truce and reviving calls for stronger humanitarian enforcement.
