History

Historical Context

On 26 March 2015 Saudi Arabia launched a nine-nation coalition, including the United Arab Emirates, to intervene in Yemen after President Hadi fled, beginning Operation Decisive Storm. The air campaign and blockade sparked a humanitarian collapse and a stalemate that lasted until a 2022 cease-fire. The September 2026 Houthi missile-drone attacks on Riyadh’s Aramco plant echo that same pattern of external meddling prolonging the war.
