Incident Overview
Early Saturday morning, officers were dispatched to a disturbance in Portland’s Old Town district near Southwest 3rd Avenue and West Burnside Street. While en route, they heard gunfire and observed evidence of a shooting at the location, though no victims or suspects were initially found on the scene.
Police Response and Investigation
The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) reported that a vehicle matching a possible suspect description left downtown on Interstate 84 shortly after the call. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled at high speed. PPB’s Air Support Unit tracked the car to Northeast 58th Avenue and Northeast Flanders Street, where the occupants ran into a nearby neighborhood. A coordinated response involving officers from multiple precincts and a K-9 unit resulted in the detention of four men from the vehicle. The PPB’s Enhanced Community Safety Team is leading the investigation.
Injuries and Medical Treatment
Police later learned that two adult men arrived at a local hospital by private vehicle with gunshot wounds. Both were treated for injuries that were not considered life-threatening and are expected to recover fully.
Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal
PPB has asked anyone with information or video of the shooting to email crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov, referencing case number 26-288413. The bureau emphasized that the investigation remains active and that additional details have not been released pending further inquiry.
