History

Historical Context

The NFL’s first regular-season London game arrived in 2007, when the New York Giants defeated the Miami Dolphins 13-10 at Wembley Stadium. Since then, the International Series has staged ten games, drawing 1.5 million U.S. television viewers and prompting Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’s £1 billion 2019 construction project. Today's London matchup echoed that debut, as quarterback injuries sidelined Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota while Brandon Coleman’s 320-pound, 13-yard catch sparked viral buzz. The parallel underscores the NFL’s strategy to cement a UK foothold, anticipating expanded merchandise sales and future International Series contracts through 2025.
