History

Historical Context

In 2001, the New England Patriots captured Super Bowl XXXVI, defeating the St. Louis Rams 20-17 and launching a dynasty. Coach Bill Belichick’s strategic adjustments yielded 13 first-half points, while quarterback Tom Brady posted a 288-yard, one-touchdown performance in the championship. Today’s Patriots-Bills clash echoes that turnaround, as rookie Drake Maye’s 269 yards and Efton Chism III’s last-minute TD mirror the 2001 comeback surge. The parallel underscores New England’s continued clutch legacy, suggesting future playoff positioning will hinge on late-game resilience cultivated since the early 2000s.
