History

Historical Context

In 1998 Ken Starr’s independent-counsel probe produced a 2,000-page report that led to Bill Clinton’s impeachment and partisan rallies. Starr later defended Donald Trump during the 2020 Senate impeachment trial, again turning a legal inquiry into a political flashpoint. Jack Smith’s Oct 3 2026 festival appearance, denounced by Trump and Jim Jordan, mirrors this pattern.
