History

Historical Context

On 25 February 1994, American-Israeli physician Baruch Goldstein, a Kach activist, opened fire on worshippers in Hebron’s Ibrahimi Mosque, killing 29 and wounding 125. Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin condemned the act and imposed a two-week curfew on Hebron’s 120,000 Palestinians. The massacre’s legacy of settler impunity resurfaces today as armed settlers patrol nearby villages during Sukkot.
