History

Historical Context

The 2024 Wawa store shooting in Sicklerville, New Jersey, which wounded two 20-year-old men, revives the national gun-control debate sparked by the April 20 1999 Columbine massacre, where Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 13 students and a teacher. That tragedy prompted President Bill Clinton’s push for the Brady amendment and a wave of school-security measures that still shape policy discussions today.
