ICC Issues Warrants
- The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Taliban Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada on 5 October 2026, originally dated 8 July 2025 and 9 September 2025.
- The warrants also target Chief Justice Abdul Hakim Haqqani, Habibullah Agha and Neda Mohammad Nadim.
- Judges found reasonable grounds that the suspects ordered gender-based persecution of girls, women, and political opponents.
- The alleged crimes from 15 August 2021 to 20 January 2025 include murder, imprisonment, torture, rape and enforced disappearance.
