Fairshake Crypto Super PAC Targets 32 House Incumbents Ahead of Midterms

By Drooid · · How we work

Fairshake’s General-Election Push

The cryptocurrency-focused super PAC Fairshake announced a coordinated effort to support 32 incumbent members of the U.S. House of Representatives—19 Republicans and 13 Democrats—less than a month before the November midterm elections. Six of those candidates, including Reps. Janelle Bynum (D-OR), Steven Horsford (D-NV), Derek Tran (D-CA), French Hill (R-AR), Bill Huizenga (R-MI) and Bryan Steil (R-WI), are slated to receive at least $1 million each. All 32 have voted for the CLARITY Act, the industry’s flagship market-structure bill, when it passed the House in July 2025.

Funding and Candidate Slate

Fairshake’s network, which includes affiliated super PACs Protect Progress (Democratic-leaning) and Defend American Jobs (Republican-leaning), entered September with roughly $120.4 million in cash-on-hand, according to Federal Election Commission filings. The PAC reported $108 million remaining as of the end of August. Earlier in the cycle it spent $71 million across 57 primaries and special elections, winning 53 of those contests.

Beyond the six million-dollar recipients, the PAC backs a broader list of incumbents such as Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN), House Agriculture Committee Chair Glenn Thompson (R-PA), and Democratic Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-CA). Fairshake has already allocated nearly $30 million in this cycle to oppose Democratic Senate nominee Sherrod Brown in Ohio, following a $40 million spend against him in 2024.

Legislative Context

The CLARITY Act, championed by many of the supported lawmakers, would shift oversight of numerous digital assets from the Securities and Exchange Commission to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and clarify token-issuance rules. The bill failed to clear a procedural hurdle in the Senate last month, leaving its future uncertain and heightening the strategic importance of a pro-crypto congressional bloc.

Official Statements & Responses

Fairshake’s spokesperson Geoff Vetter reiterated the organization’s mission, emphasizing a non-partisan focus on crypto-related policy.

Potential Impact

With key committee chairs and subcommittee leaders among its beneficiaries—Chair and Vice-Chair of the House Financial Services Committee (Hill and Huizenga) and the digital-assets subcommittee chair (Steil)—the PAC’s backing could shape the next Congress’s approach to cryptocurrency regulation. If the supported incumbents retain their seats, they may influence whether the CLARITY Act or similar reforms advance, affecting the regulatory landscape for digital assets nationwide.
