Historical Context

In 1975 the UN General Assembly, backed by the Arab League and many Second-World states, passed Resolution 3379 declaring Zionism a form of racism (72-35-32). After U.S. pressure, the body revoked it with Resolution 46/86 on 16 December 1991 (111-25-13). The 2026 Green Party amendment mirrors the same partisan split that once divided nations over that resolution.
