History

Historical Context

In the 2016 U.S. presidential election, Donald Trump won the Electoral College with 304 votes while Hillary Clinton captured the popular vote, earning about 48% of ballots. U.S. intelligence later confirmed Russian actors spread false narratives to sow doubt, a pattern echoed in Trump’s 2024 claim of 125 million Indian voters. The recurrence of fabricated vote totals has revived concerns about election integrity worldwide.
