History

Historical Context

The 2024 ALDS saw the Yankees repeat a three-error first inning, echoing past postseason missteps that have tipped series. Historically, New York’s 27 World Series titles—most in MLB—include seasons like 1975 when Catfish Hunter bolstered the Yankees, and the 2000 Subway Series between the Yankees and Mets where fielding drama fueled rivalry. Such patterns push clubs to stress fielding drills.
