History

Historical Context

In 1906, the Chicago White Sox captured the World Series after trailing early, defeating the Chicago Cubs in six games. Owner Charles Comiskey invested $250,000 in player salaries, while pitcher Ed Walsh posted a 1.88 ERA across the series. Similarly, today’s Game 2 sees Gavin Williams striking out 11, while Stephen Vogt warns the Cleveland Guardians must win three straight to avoid elimination. The pattern underscores how early deficits force teams like the White Sox and Guardians to rally, shaping postseason narratives and future roster decisions.
