History

Historical Context

In June 1976 Palestinian and German militants hijacked Air France Flight 139, forcing it to Entebbe, Uganda, where President Idi Amin sheltered the plane. Israeli commandos rescued 102 hostages on 4 July, but 73-year-old Dora Bloch, hospitalized in Kampala, was later murdered, prompting the UK to cut diplomatic ties and, after the 1979 Tanzanian invasion, her body was recovered.
