History

Historical Context

In 1995 the United States hosted the U.S. Cup, a four-team USSF invitational, and claimed its second title with a young squad led by coach Bora Milutinovic. Earlier, the U.S. and Canada had both qualified for the 1995 Women’s World Cup after the 1994 CONCACAF championship. The 2024 qualifier, coached by Mauricio Pochettino, again fielded a youthful U.S. side, continuing the reliance on emerging talent.
