History

Historical Context

In 2005, the Chicago White Sox snapped an 88-year championship drought by winning the World Series, their first title since 1917. The 2005 squad posted a 95-67 regular-season record, the franchise’s best since 1993, and clinched the AL Central by eight games. Similarly, the 2024 White Sox reached the ALDS after three straight 100-loss seasons, and Guardians manager Stephen Vogt employs opener Daniel Espino, echoing tactical shifts. These patterns indicate that overcoming prolonged failure can spark franchise resurgence, prompting teams to prioritize adaptive pitching and mental toughness for future playoffs.
