Murder of Nurse in London Flat

By Drooid · · How we work

Fatal Attack and Investigation

Prosecutor Catherine Farrelly KC described the case as a violent assault in which the defendant, Sabat, entered the victim’s flat armed with a knife and stabbed her repeatedly. The victim, identified only as Nurse, was found on a bed with a pillow covering her face and multiple stab wounds to her face, neck and hands. Paramedics who entered the flat after family members raised concerns were forced to retreat when Sabat charged at one of them. Armed police later entered, used Tasers and detained Sabat. Nurse was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem examination confirmed approximately eight stab wounds.

Timeline of Events

  • 22 October – Nurse told a neighbour that Sabat was at her address and would not leave.
  • 25 October – Nurse was last captured on CCTV footage.
  • 27 October – Family members reported her missing; paramedics entered the flat, encountered Sabat with a knife, and withdrew. Police subsequently forced entry and arrested Sabat.

Prosecutor’s Account and Police Response

During the arrest, Sabat allegedly told officers that he considered himself a murderer, had killed before, and intended to continue a “murder spree.” Farrelly noted that Sabat and Nurse had known each other for many years, having been raised together by Nurse’s father. After the paramedics were forced to leave, armed officers entered the property, employed Tasers, and secured the scene, leading to the discovery of Nurse’s body.

Injuries and Forensic Findings

The forensic report recorded about eight stab wounds, including injuries to the left side of the face, the neck and the hands. The nature and distribution of the wounds were consistent with a sustained, close-range attack.

Legal Context

Sabat was arrested on suspicion of murder. The prosecution’s narrative links his prior relationship with the victim to the motive and the violent outcome, while the police response—use of Tasers and forced entry—was deemed necessary to neutralize an armed threat and preserve evidence.
