October 2026 Pixel Update Rollout
Google released its October 2026 software update for all Pixel phones running Android 17. The rollout began in early October and is being delivered in phases, so the update may appear at different times depending on device model and carrier. The update includes the monthly Android security patch and three targeted bug fixes.
Pixel 11 Series Lag Behind QPR1
The Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold—launched in August with the base Android 17 release—have not yet received the Android 17 QPR1 update that was distributed to other Pixel devices in September. The series did receive the Android 17 QPR3 beta shortly afterward, but the full QPR1 feature set remains pending.
Bug Fixes and Security Patch Details
The October update resolves three specific issues: (1) a rare failure of the virtual keyboard to appear when interacting with search fields, (2) audio noise or distortion in ringtones during certain VoIP calls, and occasional incorrect orientation of captured photos or videos. In addition, the October 1 security patch addresses 28 identified security vulnerabilities, and Google’s Pixel security bulletin lists six additional Pixel-specific fixes.
Support Horizon for Older Pixels
The update also marks the end of the scheduled support window for the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Launched in 2021 with three years of OS updates and five years of security updates, the Pixel 6 line received an extended support commitment in December 2024 that carries it through October 2026. Google has not confirmed whether this October release will be the final update for those models, leaving open the possibility of future patches if critical issues arise.
