History

Historical Context

In March 2015, Saudi Arabia led a nine-nation coalition that launched Operation Decisive Storm, bombing Houthi positions and imposing a naval blockade after President Hadi fled to Saudi Arabia. The campaign deployed about 100 coalition warplanes and caused massive civilian displacement, establishing a precedent for the October 2026 coalition air push that reclaimed western Yemeni ports.
