History

Historical Context

After the 1995 strike-shortened season introduced the first Division Series, the Dodgers—managed by Tommy Lasorda in his final full year—won the NL West with a 78-66 record and rookie Hideo Nomo’s league-leading 236 strikeouts, though they were swept by Cincinnati in the NLDS. Manager Dave Roberts now mirrors that willingness to reshape pitching roles, keeping flexibility central to the club’s postseason strategy.
