History

Historical Context

In 1995, after the 1994 strike cancelled the World Series, the Atlanta Braves won their first title in Atlanta, posting a 90-54 record and clinching the NL East by 21 games under manager Bobby Cox. The win made Atlanta the first city to host a World Series champion in three locations (Boston 1914, Milwaukee 1957, Atlanta 1995) and occurred in the inaugural Division Series era.
