History

Historical Context

On October 20, 2004, the Boston Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the ALCS, beginning the MLB comeback from a 3-0 series deficit. The victory helped end the 86-year “Curse of the Bambino” and set the stage for Boston’s World Series sweep. Managed by Terry Francona and propelled by Curt Schilling’s “Bloody Sock” performance, the Sox swept the St. Louis Cardinals to claim their championship since 1918.
