History

Historical Context

In 1995, Mumbai police’s Operation Blackout against Dawood Ibrahim’s D-Company resulted in the arrest of 27 gang members and dismantling of key networks. The sweep seized twelve firearms, four motorcycles, and recovered INR3.5 crore in cash, demonstrating the operation’s extensive material impact. Today, Gujarat and Punjab police similarly captured Parminder Prasad ‘Kaka’, alleged Goldy Dhillon lieutenant, after a tip-off led them to an Ahmedabad hotel. These coordinated raids signal India’s growing inter-state crackdown on organized crime, prompting tighter intelligence sharing and stricter anti-mafia legislation.
