History

Historical Context

Meijer’s 2026 ACSI jump reflects a long-standing shift toward data-driven loyalty, a trend Kroger helped pioneer when it bought digital-coupon firm YOU Technology in 2014 and launched its Kroger Personal Finance brand in 2007. Kroger’s own private-label products now account for more than 30% of unit sales, underscoring how loyalty incentives have reshaped grocery competition.
