History

Historical Context

In 2006 Disney completed a $7.4 billion all-stock purchase of Pixar, bringing the studio’s hit-driven franchise model under Disney’s umbrella. The deal gave Disney control of Pixar’s creative pipeline and cross-media extensions that later powered sequels, merchandise and theme-park attractions. Microsoft’s Xbox XP unit now aims to replicate that model for Minecraft and other titles, targeting a 2027 UK theme park.
