History

Historical Context

Since the professional era began in 1995, SANZAR’s TV-driven Tri-Nations made the Bledisloe Cup a staple of the annual Rugby Championship, with New Zealand holding the trophy for a record 53rd time in 2025 and a 22-year streak. The 2005 series, won 3-2 by a depleted All Blacks before a 250,000-fan crowd, mirrors today’s 2026 test, streamed by Stan Sport and Sky Sport NZ.
