History

Historical Context

The 1971 Indo-Pak war saw the Indian Air Force achieve total air superiority, flying roughly 4,000 western and 2,000 eastern sorties and forcing Pakistan’s surrender on 16 December, creating Bangladesh. That victory underpins today’s 94th-anniversary parade (2026), where IAF chief A.P. Singh leads Rafale, MiG-29 and C-17 displays, highlighting a $2 billion modernization drive.
