History

Historical Context

After the September 11 2001 attacks, the United Kingdom enacted the Anti-terrorism, Crime and Security Act and NATO invoked Article 5, prompting expanded intelligence sharing across the Atlantic. That post-9/11 security framework underlies today’s arrest of two Latvian nationals at RAF Molesworth, a case handled under the 2023 National Security Act and reflecting ongoing trans-Atlantic cooperation.
