History

Historical Context

After the Bulls missed the 1993-94 playoffs without Michael Jordan—finishing 55-27 and losing to the Knicks—Jordan quit baseball and announced his return on March 18 1995 with the two-word memo “I’m back.” The next night he debuted in Indianapolis, scoring 19 points in a game that earned the highest regular-season Nielsen rating since 1975, prompting Phil Jackson’s Bulls to win 13 of their next 17 games.
