The Division Series would be expanded to a best-of-seven format.

History

Historical Context

The 1994–95 MLB strike began on August 12 1994 under acting commissioner Bud Selig, halted play after 113 games and forced the September 14 cancellation of the season and World Series, the first since 1904. Owners then introduced the eight-team, best-of-five Division Series in 1995, a labor-driven change that today informs the proposed 2029 best-of-seven first round and the Guardians-White Sox series.
