History

Historical Context

After the 16 December 2012 Delhi gang-rape of Jyoti Singh—known as Nirbhaya—mass protests forced the government to appoint the Justice J.S. Verma Committee, which reviewed over 80,000 public suggestions and led to the 2013 Criminal Law Amendment Act and six new fast-track courts. Those reforms now shape the police response in the recent Faridabad and Noida murders investigated by ACP Aman Yadav.
