History

Historical Context

India’s six-wicket win over Pakistan in the 1992 World Cup semi-final echoed the tournament’s broader innovations: the first edition to use coloured kits, white balls and day-night matches, and the debut of South Africa after apartheid’s end. Pakistan’s 249/6 in the final secured the title, drawing over 87,000 spectators at Melbourne.
