History

Historical Context

In 1975 the Cincinnati Reds, managed by Sparky Anderson, posted a franchise-record 108-win, .618 winning-percentage season and swept the Pirates before winning a seven-game World Series—MLB club to exceed 100 victories. The 2026 NLCS pits the Milwaukee Brewers, who matched that dominance with a 103-win campaign and Trevor Megill’s 0.47 ERA, against the Los Angeles Dodgers, echoing how dominant regular seasons shape postseason strategy.
