Recent Attacks on October 10, 2026

On Saturday, Israeli forces carried out two separate strikes in the Gaza Strip that killed at least five Palestinians, according to health officials. One strike near Panda Mall in Gaza City killed four people, while a second strike in the Tuffah neighbourhood south of the city killed one. The Israeli military said both attacks targeted militants but provided no further details.

Ongoing Conflict and Cumulative Casualties

The Gaza war began after the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, which killed 1,200 Israelis and took 251 hostages. Since a U.S.-brokered ceasefire was agreed in October 2025, Gaza health officials have reported at least 1,400 Palestinian deaths from Israeli fire. Overall, Gaza health officials estimate that more than 74,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war’s start, while the Israeli military reports four of its soldiers killed by militants over the same period. A QNA report puts the total death toll at 74,254 and records 175,306 Palestinians wounded.

Additional Violence on October 9, 2026

The day before the strikes, Israeli raids, shelling, and gunfire injured multiple Palestinians across the Strip. Medical sources said eight people were wounded when an Israeli drone hit a family tent near Al-Qadisiyah, west of Khan Yunis. Separate incidents involved shootings near Bir 19 camps, War Abu Hamid, and Al-Maghazi camp, affecting women, children, and civilians.

Official Positions

The Israeli military asserted that the October 10 strikes were aimed at militants, without offering further justification. Hamas denied rebuilding its arsenal or planning attacks and accused Israel of undermining the ceasefire. The Crossings Authority reported that the Kerem Shalom crossing operated only partially, while Israel continued to keep the Rafah land crossing and other entry points closed.

Humanitarian Impact

Intense artillery, gunfire, and aerial attacks have compounded the plight of displaced persons living in tents and camps. Reports describe casualties among civilians, including the death of six-year-old Shahd Abdul-Razzaq Al-Najjar in a displacement tent lacking protection. Limited crossing operations have hindered the delivery of essential supplies, exacerbating humanitarian conditions throughout Gaza.
