History

Historical Context

In December 1979, a crowd crush at the Who’s concert in Cincinnati’s Riverfront Coliseum killed 11 fans and injured 26, prompting the city council to ban festival (unassigned) seating and spurring new crowd-control regulations nationwide. Those rules now guide modern venues such as Tulsa’s BOK Center, which kept on-site medical staff and conducted bomb-threat sweeps during recent shows.
