History

Historical Context

In 2007 Georgia ended a 30-year drought with a 26-23 overtime win at Alabama. The 1992 SEC split into East and West limited meetings to twice, yet the schools have faced off in five championship games and two playoff finals. The 2024 game gave Kirby Smart his first win over Kalen DeBoer’s Crimson Tide amid Hurricane Isaias, prompting SEC to review scheduling for climate risks.
