History

Historical Context

During the third Test in Cape Town on 24 March 2018, Cameron Bancroft was caught using sandpaper, prompting captain Steve Smith and David Warner to admit a scheme. Cricket Australia responded with 12-month bans for Smith and Warner and a nine-month ban for Bancroft, while coach Darren Lehmann resigned. The fallout reshaped Australian cricket, leading to tighter ethics rules and a new leadership structure.
