History

Historical Context

In 2007, the New England Patriots completed an unprecedented 16-0 regular season, culminating in a 48-27 victory over the Oakland Raiders. That campaign featured quarterback Tom Brady throwing for 4,806 yards and the defense forcing a league-leading 48.9% quarterback pressure rate. The 45-17 win, Drake Maye's 374 yards and Kirk Cousins, saw Raiders' 12 penalties total 116 yards, echoing the 2007 Patriots’ dominance over the franchise. The parallel underscores New England’s continued ability to exploit penalty disparities and pressure defenses, suggesting future playoff advantages for the Patriots.
