History

Historical Context

On January 3 1993, backup quarterback Frank Reich led the Buffalo Bills to erase a 35-3 halftime hole and win 41-38 in overtime over the Houston Oilers, a 32-point turnaround that still stands as the largest NFL playoff comeback. The victory, highlighted by Steve Christie’s game-winning field goal now in the Hall of Fame, set a benchmark for later comebacks such as the 2022 Vikings’ 33-point rally.
