History

Historical Context

May 2006’s Calciopoli scandal saw the FIGC strip Juventus of the 2005-06 title, relegate it to Serie B and impose a €30 million fine with a 30-point penalty (later reduced to nine). The punishment reshaped club governance and transfer policy, altering Serie A’s power balance and, decades later, sees Juventus fighting for European spots while Cagliari, boosted by Daniel Maldini, climbs toward the top-four.
