Nothing’s CMF Brand Unveils Affordable, Customizable Portable Speakers
By Drooid · · How we work
Launch of the CMF Speaker Series
CMF, the India-based sub-brand of Nothing, introduced two new portable Bluetooth speakers—the CMF Speaker S and CMF Speaker M. Both models entered the market simultaneously and are sold in four colour finishes: white, dark gray, orange, and turquoise. Pricing starts at $59 for the smaller Speaker S and $109 for the larger Speaker M.
Design and Modularity
The speakers adopt a “milk-carton” silhouette that distinguishes them from conventional designs. Each unit features a removable front panel, including the volume-control knob and a vertical flap that can be used for hanging. CMF will publish the official design files, allowing owners with 3-D printers to create and swap custom panels or knobs, extending personalisation beyond the factory-offered colour options.
Performance and Connectivity
Speaker S houses a custom-tuned 45 mm full-range driver with two passive radiators, while Speaker M adds a 10 W tweeter and a dedicated 25 W woofer for stronger bass response and clearer instrument separation. Both models support Bluetooth 6.0, fast pairing via NFC, Google Fast Pair, or Microsoft Swift Pair, and can stream audio over USB-C with ultra-low latency—useful for gaming. Battery life reaches up to 18 hours, and an IP68 rating guarantees dust and water resistance. The speakers also offer dual-device Bluetooth connections and can be linked in “Stereo Mode” or “Party Mode” for synchronized playback.
Target Audience and Market Position
CMF positions the Speaker S as a desk-friendly, colourful companion for younger users, while the louder Speaker M targets listeners seeking higher output in a portable form factor. By combining affordability, modular aesthetics, and robust technical specs, the series aims to attract consumers who value both design flexibility and solid audio performance in the budget segment.
