Influential Role of Chris Bruni-Lowe at Redfield & Wilton Strategies
Chris Bruni-Lowe, long-time private pollster for Nigel Farage, worked at Redfield & Wilton Strategies from mid-2020 to late-2022 and returned in the summer of 2025 to train interns. Sources say he directed UK and US voter-intention polls, oversaw research on council spending, and pursued a “dossier” on local-authority performance that he suggested could be sold to political parties. He sometimes used the alias “Chris Redfield,” under which quotes appeared in the Washington Post.
Polling Operations and Political Connections
Founded in 2020 and owned by solicitor Bruno Rodrigues, the firm’s public face was research director Philip van Scheltinga, a Harvard graduate. During the COVID-19 lockdown its polls gained wider coverage, though the source of its polling expertise remained opaque. Employees reported that Bruni-Lowe was “obsessed” with the dossier project and that staff were not always told how their work would be used. The firm also produced polling in Montenegro, Hungary, Hong Kong and the Bahamas, and research on UK attitudes toward gold and cryptocurrencies.
Official Statements from Redfield & Wilton Leadership
He explained the “Redfield” email convention as a standard internal practice, not a device to conceal identity. Van Scheltinga, as director of research, managed day-to-day operations, while Rodrigues served as the nominal director for the British Polling Council (BPC) and “maintained total silence” when the BPC demanded a representative.
Concerns Over Transparency and Industry Reaction
Industry observers note that the British Polling Council requires pollsters to declare who commissions and pays for polling, but does not mandate disclosure of political affiliations. The firm’s limited public engagement with the BPC and the use of aliases have prompted calls for greater transparency. An industry source said the BPC demanded a representative, but only Rodrigues appeared, offering no comment.
Verbatim Quote
"The existence of personal or social meetings involving individuals associated with the company does not establish a corporate relationship between Redfield & Wilton Strategies and Reform UK." — MJ Pictures Rodrigues, a lawyer
