History

Historical Context

After the 15 April 1989 Hillsborough crush that killed 97 fans, Lord Justice Taylor’s 1990 inquiry forced English stadiums to become all-seater, reshaping crowd safety policy. The 2024 BBC Cymru Wales programmes and the National Library of Wales’ Book of Remembrance invoke that legacy, urging First Minister Rhun ap Iorwerth to tighten Welsh mining oversight and memorial practices.
