History

Historical Context

In 1999 United overturned a 1-0 deficit in injury time to beat Bayern Munich 2-1 at Camp Nou, completing a treble and becoming the first English club to win the Champions League since 1984. That comeback, achieved with a deep, injury-prone squad, set a standard for European resilience. Today, an injury-hit United missing Matthijs de Ligt faces Atletico Madrid in the group stage, testing that legacy.
