History

Historical Context

In 1995 the Cleveland Indians, after a 100-win, 30-game-ahead season, clinched their first AL pennant since 1954 by adding veteran Orel Hershiser in the ALCS, a move that helped them win the series 4–2 over the Seattle Mariners. The 2026 Guardians repeat the approach, expanding to thirteen pitchers with Slade Cecconi, highlighting depth as a postseason priority.
