Summary

Reese Sets Rebound Record

Allisha Gray is day-to-day with a hand injury for Game 1 of the Finals.
Gray averaged a career-high 19 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.4 steals.
Angel Reese averages 16.4 points and 12.1 rebounds per game for the Dream.
Reese’s 521 rebounds set a WNBA record, giving the Dream the league’s second-best rebounding rate.
GM Dan Padover traded two first-round picks for Reese in April, calling her the missing piece.

History

Historical Context

Since the WNBA’s 1997 launch with eight franchises, the league has moved finals to larger venues as crowds grew— the 2024 season set a record 20,711-fan game and the 2026 Finals shifted Games 3 and 4 to Atlanta’s 17,000-seat State Farm Arena. The surge follows the 2024 draft spotlight on Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark, which lifted viewership to 2.45 million.
